THE ESSENTIALS REPORT |
Similar to a category nine earthquake landing with aftershock sporadically happening, the death of George Floyd highlighted many issues in the United States of America criminal justice system. Along with exactly what community support programs have been established. Ever since the coronavirus global health pandemic mandates have been relaxed. They are no longer minimizing the number of relatives that can attend a family gathering or funerals, so now is the time to figure out how has his death changed the world? Considering this is an opinion piece conducting a SWOT analysis is the best way to arrive at any answer.
The George Floyd movement which spread all the way to Hong Kong was energized by #BlackLivesMatter global network for the mobilizing marches which allows for various scopes of examination starting at the sentiments expressed by activist, and political figures. @Valeisha tweeted "I'm forever changed. Forever." DC Mayor Muriel Bowser directing her frustration to former President Trump tweeted "while he hides behind his fence afraid/alone, I stand w/ people peacefully exercising their First Amendment Right after the murder of #GeorgeFloyd & hundreds of years of institutional racism. There are no vicious dogs & ominous weapons. There is just a scared man. Afraid/alone..." In typical no justice no peace style, Rev. Al Sharpton consoled the family with a phone call. His untimely death was an opportunity for community development to expand for any opportunities, but what programs have been created to even start a honest conversation about the conditions in the underserved communities across the United States? What community support groups have sprung out of all that marching from Hong Kong to Houston Texas? The weakness in the movement is that the conditions which have plague America prior to his death have become more catastrophic with displacement being the best form of intersectionality and inclusion. Those bricks that had been in the streets along the marching routes have been picked up by the Biden-Harris Administration to #BuildBackBetter. Now the message in many social justice movements is who knows what's right, wrong, or what the political argument is since climate change has altered the agendas. The strength of the George Floyd movement was expressed and seen at the #BlackLivesMatter plaza in Washington DC illustrated through displays of artwork depicting injustices in the US and what type of feeling arises through those injustices. That art was eventually collected to be stored in a museum. Luckily, all the artwork survived the church fire that happened near the plaza. Not sure if the congregation has fully returned to the pews but many have lost their faith since then. The monetary system has changed, and not sure Harriet will see the $20 bill. But a more lucrative digital dollar has surfaced since the allege counterfeit twenty dollars was the main reason for police being called on George Floyd. Furthermore, the allege drug fentanyl that was found in his system has surged on the streets with a stronger dose and more potent causing death more rapidly and swiftly. Criminal justice has become a step and repeat brand without any ambassador who could aide in a meaningful solution to bring about change, but ready to chant "I can't breathe, no justice no peace defund the police." Meanwhile, not many wore masks when mobilizing for George Floyd and now the science revealed some adverse reactions to wearing them in the car, house, school, and just about everywhere you went. Did he change the guidepost for #BlackLivesMatter? It depends where they had set the goal. And if homebuying process, was it? Then yes, they achieve that with from an influx of donations. However, it hasn't been clarified if the properties serve as office space to further the movements work eradicating the isms which exist in the American society. The movement was founded in 2013 and is a global organization whose mission is to eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black community by the state and vigilantes.
