Martin Luther King, Jr Day was celebrated in such a unique way at the Walter Museum in Baltimore on January 13th. Artist, poets, and musicians alike had a chance to express their interpretation of Dr. King's legacy and made it a remarkable afternoon to remember. Author and Poet Unique Robinson curated the celebration at the Walter Museum where she serves as a steward. "Don't pour out no more liquor, we need an elixir," was a very profound piece of Robinson's poem written for Dr. King's legacy. "He did more than "I have a Dream" speech. He was against war and on this day it's important to make that statement," Unique Robinson shared with the audience. This poem along with others can be found in here latest book "Not in Service." She wrote this book at a time her life was in transition riding the bus and is dedications derives from a generation that refused to die. The celebration of Dr. King continued with sensational singer and DJ Esi Ambercrombie. Educator and Poet Kenneth Something gave a jaw dropping performance through his personification creating a story for inanimate objects which aide in unpacking culture of a country who allowed lynching to happen. And phenomenal artist and musician Black Assets contributed to the celebration with an outstanding performance and poem.
